Poem prayers for Japan. The following haiku are by a number of different deviants. They are posted below as a way of sending our prayers and/or thoughts of love and support, as well as showing our solidarity for the people of Japan, in the wake of the 8.9 earthquake and ensuing tsunami and nuclear crisis.

Please, please send your haiku to me. Leave them as a comment, note me with them, post them as a deviation and link me. I will add them here. The goal? The creation of a beautiful collaborative work of art that shows our LOVE, SUPPORT and SOLIDARITY. Even if you cannot assist the people of Japan monetarily, DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF WORDS AND POSITIVE ENE

Also, stop bawwing at people who say they're going to pray for Japan. Spending time drawing kawaii crying animu isn't any better. Or worse.

EDIT: only 5 thumbs are allowed in artist's comments. Newer 'artworks' will be linked to...

currently there is a genocide /ethnic cleaning in Burma.. and no one is going to pray for them. maybe because they're Muslims, not Christians, not Westerns.. not Japan.

well, that's another story.

I felt kind of bad when I didn't cry when Japan got hit with that Tsunami. I felt bad, but not really that much.

But, I got over it.

I love Japan!

lol I'm really late

I felt bad for Japan, but that's mainly because I have friends who live there that are really close to my family. I would have been really upset if I lost them, I guess that's why it impacted me more than something like Haiti. Like I felt bad for Haiti... but not quite as much as Japan, because I don't know anyone in Haiti.

There's a lot of sick people that were revealed through this incident though, those that were like "OMG MY ANIME WILL BE DELAYED" and shit like that. I wanted to punch them, because all Japan is to them is KAWAIIDESU and not a place with people like every other country. Ugh.

I know that feel. :iconiknowthatfeelplz:

A really good friend of mine moved back to Japan before the earthquake and tsunami hit.
I have not heard from her till a few months ago. Thank goodness she is doing okay.
I was worried sick!

It also sickness me to see people care more about the anime but, not the people.

Don't get me wrong I also care about Haiti and other countries that faces disaster.

This maybe old..but did anyone make art for Haiti? Or any other country who had a terrible natural disaster? Probably got this question before. If so, probably didn't get DD's for them like the Japan works...unless I missed them.

Did anyone also make tributes for tragedies in South American countries, or other Asian countries? Truth be told, the earthquake in Chile and Mount Pinatubo's eruption (Nobody knows about this volcano which is in the Philippines, which apparently nobody knows is in Asia because it's a very terrible country which doesn't fit in with stereotypical "Asia" - and yet it was subject to one of the worst volcanic eruptions in history just 2 decades ago) did not get any artistic attention - and these are by very far much worse.

Even if I do have a relative, and a few friends in Japan along with possible Japanese roots, albeit dubious, I'm still sad that Japan had to get the most amount of attention. The Fukushima plant meltdown is not actually as bad as the Chernobyl disaster, but a lot of people have hyped it to such.

The thing is, Japan is relatively more prepared. A huge amount of their budget (said to actually have the largest portion of the budget pie last year) is dedicated for disaster prevention. But I'm not calling everyone who supported it out, just saying that other countries weren't as prepared as they are and they don't get so much attention.

To be fair, Japan is interesting. The government of the country where I live in right now even donated a sum of money to help. Japan has committed various war crimes and is still paying for the damages, in the form of some aid (albeit with some benefit for them as well) and the relatively low exchange rate of the yen to the currency here, but did their government give any aid when worse disasters (typhoons in particular) afflicted the country? I'm not really sure about that.

Sorry for the long post by the way, I thought I'd just leave this here.

Because Haiti don't have animu stuff.

Amazing how much bashing this stamp is getting. . . . .

It has a great point for how there are plenty of artist who have made and are making these pics with integrity, but a good portion of it is to try and get attention.

Even better is the group of these people who claim that buying prints send the money to help out in japan.
I'm sure there are plenty of artists who send the money to japan form the prints too, but you just KNOW there has to be a small handful, maybe even 1 or 2 out there total of people who are just saying that the money used to buy prints is being sent to help japan when it's really just being kept for themselves. I can't name anyone in particular because I don't know who is/would and I wouldn't have proof. I'm just saying that it's possible and why donating directly is better when you know it's definitely going to a good cause. If there's someone saying "I'd help but I don't have the money, but I'll buy your print", then it is contradicting. I haven't run into that either, but I hardly look at these pics.

...You really don't think all of these were made to bawww, do you? :/ I mean, sure. A lot of people are going to take advantage of these natural disasters to make art just for the attention. But honestly, not everyone is making it for that reason. I know that a lot of the people who got the DD's actually care about the disaster. Seeing as they put so much time into the work. It is, however annoying when the entire site is bawwing about it and every weeaboo fag uploads artwork about it just to vent about the next episode of their favorite anime or manga's postponed release date. That is what pisses me off entirely.

I don't enjoy people talking rudely about my friends- Cocokun is a wonderful person and was kind enough to mention the other countries as well.
These people are only expressing their feelings through art- isn't that what art is supposed to be?

I'm sick of people complaining about everything pertaining to japan.
Yes i understand that many people did not acknowledge the other countries' disasters, but that's no reason to get pissed at the people who care about another disaster. It's the equivalent to inferring that someone can't draw a picture involving WWI without including WWII into the picture :/

This bullshit is starting to get to me as well. Now before any of you call me "insensitive" or "asshole" or anything like that, I do support Japan. Notice I said support as opposed to pray for? I think that speaks for itself, am I right? As for the DD issue, treating this disaster like fandom is one thing, but doing it for a daily deviation is another. Then again; the crap that happened it Haiti and Chile and Australia, as well as what's going on in Libya, never got as much exploitation as the Land of the Rising Sun. Bloody favouritism. :x
