Pageviews - Have lots of them
Yes, pageviews are probably the main thing to have if you want to be popular. You can get them by drawing lots of anime, furry art, big boobs or all three of those together. The easiest way, however, is to buy them. There are lots of people selling them on dA, either for or via paypal. Either way, get your pageview counter up!

Do not favourite lots of deviations
That's right, only a selected few, from other fellow popular artists. You don't want to be taken for a wannabe do you? Popular people don't go on faving sprees.  4000 is ok-ish, but 10 000 is unacceptable.

Do not reply to all comments you get
Yes, popular people get so many comments and notes and it becomes impossible to reply to all of them. You can also reply after a couple of weeks and say you were swamped by other comments and things like that. Use your imagination, your crown is the limit. Having a deviation where you replied to all the comments is bad. Don't have long conversations with people who comment either. Remember, you're too busy for that.

Have a fanbase
A fanbase... YEAH! You can get people to devwatch you by going around devwatching everyone. Don't forget to  unwatch them afterward though, because this'll create a huge inbox spam. Join groups to have people with similar interests follow you.

Have your ass-kissers and white knights
This can be quite hard, unless you've spent a lot of time on deviantART. But don't worry, I have the solution to that. Create multiple accounts, and always comment on your own art with comments like these, which are the embodiment of being popular:
'OMG KAWAII!! I LUFF U'
'DEVWATCH ME BACK PLZZ!! I WILL MAKE YOU FANART'

Fanart and dedicated groups
Which brings us to the final part of this guide. Fanart, and fan groups. How to get fanart done... Be creative. Make use of your alternate accounts and draw things for your OCs(Original Characters) if you have one(or more). You can draw anything from boyfriends to  rainbow coloured clothes.  Do art trades with other people. Drawing two characters means they can interact with each other....

Now onto dedicated groups. Never make a group about yourself or your OC on your main account. Always make it using an alternate account. Otherwise it will be like buying your own liquor...

Note: When you'll get popular following my advice, don't blame me fo the huge amount of faves and comments you'll be receiving, I warned you. Also, more importantly, do NOT forget FAQ #295. Here's what it says:

"It is considered an exploit of the system for an individual to use alternate accounts to manipulate the system in favor of their own work. Deviants who are caught utilizing multiple accounts in order to cheat their way into a higher Popular ranking will find themselves banned and their gallery purged as punishment of this betrayal of trust."

So if you paid attention, I never told you to favourite your art on alternate accounts. Just gymnastics to kiss your own ass. Be careful about this. Having multiple accounts is NOT  an offense, faving your own art is.
